IV Sedation Dentistry in Fort Pierce, FL

Sedation Dentistry Fort Pierce, FL

If you get anxious just thinking about the dentist, you’re not alone.

For many people, dental visits bring up feelings of stress, fear, or even panic. At our dental office in Fort Pierce, Florida, we understand that your comfort is just as important as your oral health — and we’re always looking for ways to make every visit as easy and relaxing as possible.

That’s why we’re so excited to now offer IV Sedation Dentistry — a safe, comfortable option to help you completely relax during your dental treatment.

What Is IV Sedation?

IV sedation (short for intravenous sedation) is a safe and effective way to help patients feel deeply relaxed during dental treatment. The medication is delivered through a small IV line in your arm or hand and begins to work within minutes.

While you remain conscious and responsive, you'll feel calm, drowsy, and completely at ease — and chances are, you won’t remember much (if anything) about the procedure afterward.

This type of sedation is sometimes called “twilight dentistry”, and it’s ideal for patients who have dental anxiety or need involved dental procedures such as wisdom teeth extraction, full mouth rehabs, or hours of dentistry to restore teeth.

Dental Anxiety Solutions

We understand that dental anxiety is real, and for some patients, it can be overwhelming. Others may have a strong gag reflex, difficulty getting numb, or simply need a more comfortable way to complete complex or lengthy dental treatments.

Adding IV sedation to our services allows us to provide:

  • Anxiety-free dentistry
  • More comfortable, efficient procedures
  • Fewer appointments (we can often complete more work in one visit)
  • A more positive dental experience — especially for nervous or phobic patients for patients in Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Hutchinson Island, and surrounding areas.

Is IV Sedation Right for You?

IV sedation might be good for you if:

  • Feel nervous or fearful about dental visits
  • Have had negative dental experiences in the past
  • Struggle with a sensitive gag reflex
  • Need multiple procedures or longer treatments
  • Need dental extractions especially wisdom teeth
  • Have difficulty sitting still or staying comfortable for extended periods

Before scheduling your treatment with IV sedation, we’ll take the time to review your medical history, discuss your concerns, and make sure this option is safe and appropriate for you.

What to Expect with IV Sedation

Before your appointment sedation appointment:

You will attend a Pre Op appointment. At this visit we will take your vitals, go over medical history, and you’ll receive detailed instructions, including when to stop eating or drinking before your visit. A trusted adult will need to accompany you and drive you to and from the appointment on the day of your sedation appointment.

During your sedation appointment:

Once you're comfortably seated, we’ll insert a small IV line and begin the sedation process. You’ll feel relaxed and peaceful as we complete your treatment — and most patients remember very little afterward. For longer procedures your driver can leave and come back towards the end of your appointment.

After your appointment:

You’ll rest for a short time in our office as the sedation wears off. A person from our staff will assist you out of the office and help your driver secure you into the car. You’ll need to take the rest of the day easy, and we’ll provide clear after-care instructions to support your recovery.
